Apple iPod - Welcome Music Again

When the 4th generation of Apple iPod was launched, people speculated changes here and there. Btu Apple did not make any of the speculation comes true. And there was no need either, for the gadgets have made a huge success and no one has really beaten the company at the portable-audio-player game yet. But nonetheless the new iPod is not a flawless picture, there are sure some issues.

To begin with, the new Apple iPod distorts sometime quite heavily, when the users are using the EQ settings. The harmonic distortion is minimum really with sans EQ but most of the audio setting becomes a little distorted at higher notes. The Bass response is at practically lower limit as most music, it is about 5 dB down at 40 Hz. In tune with its important feature, the device has integrated click wheel and buttons – sure an improvement over separate buttons. The big iPods now recharge from USB, and battery life is up to around 12 hours.

Another reason why an Apple iPhone has ruled the roost, is the large number of after market products and accessories. There is without doubt much more available than any of the other large hard drive player out there. You can extend the capability of the hardware and software to make possible the PDA functions. Also, you can perform thrilling games, interesting recordings, wireless transition etc. The Apple iPhone is also very trendy and stylish. It is available in many colours, which are vibrant and energetic – something that is just apt to signify the power and pulse of a musical device.

The Apple iPhone is a cult, is a social phenomenon. It is something the Mtv generation identifies with and feels one with. This robust device has millions of pleased and satisfied users, and despite the flaw of some audio distortion, there has been a huge fan following.

A Brief History of Computer

Uninformed researchers of computer history would probably note the first computer in the mid 1930`s. In reality, this history dates nearly 2000 years ago with the invention of the abacus where the user programmed beads using formulated constructs. Although many historians caution against the use of the word computer except to define 20th century computers, a broader understanding illuminates an instrument designed by a Frenchman and which functioned as a calculator and was designed for a tax collector in the 1600`s. Improvements to this calculator continued through the 19th century. Similar work was underway in England and with the support of the government a `mechanical` calculator was invented. It was powered by steam and supported a fixed program for its use. This calculator went through many changes until an automatic calculator was invented. Following this flurry of discovery and invention, little changed until the early 1900`s when detailed mechanical and transportation work req...

Part I - Pixar, iPod and the Second Coming of Steve Jobs

I just finished listening to the book Icon, which is the biography of Steve Jobs. Jobs is best known for starting Apple computers with Steve Wozniak, his life long friend. But what I was really surprised to learn is that Steve Jobs also bought Pixar from George Lucas and made it into the world class animation studio that it is today. I also had no idea that Steve Jobs’ net worth is in the billions! I always pictured him as a desperate guy who wanted to get back to running Apple so bad, he took a salary of $1 per year. Another interesting thing about Steve Jobs is his commitment to the Zen philosophy and to creative, elegant design. But it was his temperamental and stubborn management style which called his leadership abilities into question by the Apple board of directors. His inability to be flexible and adapt to the market is what got him fired from Apple. These conflicting elements of his personality made him seem all the more hypocritical to the people around him. The other thing t...
